What a glorious day it was with the sun shining all day. A total of £3,547.30 was taken before expenses. We wish to thank Rose Dunnelle, our judge for the pedigree classes and Dog Warden, Colin Leek, who along with Tina and Alex, judged the fun classes; sanctuary staff Lydia, Jolanta and Meelia who manned the entry desk, and our other staff members who had to stand in due to a shortage of volunteers. We also thank the Retired Greyhound Trust, the ladies who served tea & cake and the chefs on the barbecue, Bob & Pam on the gate, our classic car exhibitors and everyone who manned stalls and worked really hard to make it a lovely day. Big thanks also go to The Southern Golden Retrievers, Samphire Dog Training, The Dancing Doggies of Northbourne and Stockbury Dog Club Obedience Display Team for entertaining us so well. Boot Fair & End of Year Clearance Sale
Sat 2nd October
Once again the heavens opened, but not until about 11.30am. We thank everyone who came along and all our lovely helpers. A total of £600 was raised before expenses. Despite the weather, it was, once again a happy morning with lots of lovely people. Thank you.
Boot & Autumn Fair - Saturday 11th September
Although the day started off cloudy with a few spots of rain, it soon turned into a very nice autumn day. We were entertained by The Ashborys, a very talented group who generously gave their time for free, The City of Canterbury Band, regulars at the sanctuary and, for the first time at Park House, The Blogo Fogo Samba Band who attracted the crowd with their drums and received lots of cheering. A total of £2,278 was raised for the sanctuary before expenses.
Although funds are always needed for the continuation of our work, we like to give our supporters a good day out and if anyone has any ideas for next years events, please let me know. As always, a big thank you to all our friends and helpers who donate their time and without whom we could not continue to stage these events.
Boot Fair & Fun Dog Show - Saturday 10th July
I would just like to thank everyone who came to our Boot Fair & Fun Dog Show on Saturday 10th July. It was such a shame that the weather was so damp and showery, nevertheless everyone seemed to enjoy it and we were pleased to welcome some new helpers. Everyone was very enthusiastic for another event, so we will be holding a Boot Fair on Saturday 7th August and entertainment is needed. We would also like to thank Pam Ferris and our vet Charlotte, who judged the Dog Show classes and of course, all our helpers. A total of £1,375 was raised.
Boot & Spring Fayre - Saturday 29th May 2021
What a magical day it was, full of fun and laughter, and the sun shone all day. We were entertained by the lovely East Kent Piping Society, Rust & Stardust's wonderful puppet theatre 'Tweethearts' and Country Singer John McQ. There was a lovely display of classic cars which generated a lot of interest plus tombolas, a raffle and many bargains to be found on the various stalls. There was plenty to eat and drink and several Lord Whisky sanctuary dogs which I spotted. We would like to say an enormous thank you to everyone who made the day so special and helped to raise just over £3,000. Our next event will be on Saturday 10th July where we will be holding a mini fun dog show for pet and rescue dogs and we hope to see lots of ex Lord Whisky ones. If anyone wants to put their name on a display, please let us know. We were delighted to welcome our new helpers, but we still need more helping hands to man the shop and see the cars in and out. There were several familiar faces missing due to poor health and we hope they will be back with us soon. Margaret Todd

Purple Poppies 2020
For several years now, Jean has knitted Purple Poppies to remember and honour the animals who lost their lives in wars alongside the Armed Forces and Merchant Seamen. These are sold to help raise money for Lord Whisky and this year has been no exception, although with the virus and lockdown, things have been a bit difficult. This year we would like to thank the following shops and businesses for having the Purple Poppies to sell and of course, the people who donated money so generously. JUDROP-IN in Cheriton; The Post Office in Dymchurch; Premier, Savages and Costa in New Romney; McColl's, Kerry's Kitchen and Lydd Butchers in Lydd; Spar in Littlestone; Well Chemist in Greatstone and the Lord Whisky Tea Room. This year the amount raised totalled £407.33 for which we give grateful thanks to everybody. Pete, Jean & Murphy (our Lord Whisky Saluki Lurcher).
Sadly, there will be no Fur, Feather & Exotic Exhibition in February 2021. We are planning to hold a Boot Fair in May subject to local restrictions and we desperately need volunteers to man stalls if these events are going to continue. Please ring us if you can help or email with your contact details and when you can help. We are also planning a clearance sale as early in the New Year as possible. Good quality items are needed for our Shop and Tea Rooms when they reopen and clothes for our clothing bins only. We are exploring sales on Ebay and the cost of paying someone to run it. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
We are always looking for entertainment for our boot fairs, so if you belong to a dance school, majorette group, band, martial arts group etc., and could put on a display in our arena, please get in touch on 01303 862622
We would like to thank everyone who came to our Autumn Boot Fair last Saturday (19th September). It was a lovely day with entertainment from the East Kent Piping Society and Bert with his lovely music. We also thank our helpers who looked after the stalls and Daphne and Arlene for all the lovely cakes. A total of £1,757 was raised. Take care and stay safe.
Despite the rain, a lovely friendly Boot Fair was held last Saturday (15th August) at Park House Animal Sanctuary, in aid of the Lord Whisky Sanctuary Fund, and a total of £1,213 was raised. We thank all our loyal helpers who give up their time to help and welcome new friends to join us at our fund raising events. Our next boot fair will take place on Saturday 19th September where we will be delighted to welcome back the East Kent Piping Society.
We thank everyone for their support during these difficult times.
